“The ‘TYRANNY & BLOODSHRED’ US tour starts tomorrow in Philadelphia and it’ll be a brutal return to the US! We had an extremely good run with the co-headline tour with Machine Head last year (‘THE BLACK TYRANNY’ tour) and we know this one will be just as good or even top that!!!”
“We have been playing around with different set lists the last couple of headline tours in Asia/Europe and by the time we hit the US, the set will be a smooth yet brutal ride! Make sure to get into THE LAST ENEMY and I WILL LIVE AGAIN from the latest album ‘RISE OF THE TYRANT’– I want to hear you all scream along! It’s going to be EPIC!”

“We’ve managed to pick excellent support acts for this US run: Dark Tranquility, Divine Heresy and Firewind! They will make sure we will deliver the goods - keep us on our toes… And they will kick everybody’s butt out there until it bleeds!”

“Cant wait to get this started – It’s a killer line-up, we carefully picked our crew and the venues, we are bringing a set full of goodies and promise you the ‘TYRANNY & BLOODSHRED’ tour will be full-on metal heaven – a pure fucking shred-fest! Get your tickets, before the shows sell out!”

Horns up!

ARCH ENEMY have just triumphantly finished off a string of high-profile, partly sold-out headline dates in Europe which saw them debut in Russia, then visit The Netherlands, France, Belgium and end up with four massive shows as part of the "Defenders Of The Faith" tour in the UK with OPETH, DEVILDRIVER and 3 INCHES OF BLOOD. Playing a packed and passionate show in front of a 4,500 people crowd in London's legendary Brixton Academy on Saturday marked a highlight as well as a perfect ending for the successful run of dates.

ARCH ENEMY will make its much-anticipated return to North America in May with what could well be hailed as one of the best guitar-shredder packages of the year. This headlining tour, presented by ESP Guitars, Randall Amps, Guitar World and Revolver magazine, dubbed "Tyranny And Bloodshred 2008", kicks off on May 9th and features ARCH ENEMY with support acts DARK TRANQUILITY, DIVINE HERESY and FIREWIND.

Don’t miss ARCH ENEMY at the upcoming live-dates:

… We arrived in the Finish capital Saturday evening. Helsinki - in sunshine - is a beautiful and lively city, offering interesting architecture, arts, beautiful parks and lots of bars, cafes and restaurants. Saturday night it was storm, heavy rain and darkness that prevailed though.. And people getting totally hammered, screaming and fighting in the streets…

Angela Gossow: "We are back from the ‘Tyrants Of The Rising Sun’ Asia tour – and it was a fantastic experience! Kawasaki, Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka in Japan, then on to Taipei, Taiwan – where we played for the first time ever.. And then on to beautiful and vibrant Seoul, where we haven’t played before either. What a trip!"

"It was a busy schedule in Japan. We didn’t have many days off on this tour, the only Yen I spent were on foot detox patches, ha-ha… These things rock btw.
I love Japan. Refined, elegant and so wonderfully organized. Not one single bad surprise, everything on time and according to schedule. Many thanx to Creative Man and Layli, who did a superb job as usual and Tetsu & Aya from our label Toys Factory! I would move to Tokyo any day if I could…
Ah, and I spotted Celine Dion on the Shinkansen train from Tokyo to Osaka. She had a whole entourage and film crew with her… I wonder how she liked to travel with the common people… ha-ha"

Michael Amott: “As you some of you might know, we filmed and recorded the Tokyo show at ‘Shinkiba Studio Coast’ on March 8th. We are planning to edit and mix this material this year and release as a DVD… We were of course a little worried if everything would work on the night with the audio and video recording, but it worked perfectly!”.

“There was really no need to worry, we had a great team of people working on the shooting of the concert Mr. Uehara and the Fuji Pacific team did an excellent job of capturing the extreme metal action on stage!
We brought our good friend Paul Smith from London, UK (he edited our ‘Live Apocalypse’ DVD) to Japan to direct the DVD and also film stuff backstage, on the road footage etc. He also filmed interviews with all band members on various locations in Japan. Comparing it to our ‘Live Apocalypse’ DVD, which featured material from all over the world (and concert footage from the UK) this new DVD will be totally focused on ARCH ENEMY in Japan 2008. I am excited to start working on it! I am not sure when we will eventually release this DVD – but I am hoping that it will be in a not too distant future!”

"We also filmed me visiting the ESP guitars custom shop factory in Tokyo (Thanks Makoto Suzuki!) and the BIG BOSS shop and ESP schools in Nagoya (thank you Mr. Nagaya and staff!)"

"Of course it was also very special to receive the BURRN! trophies in Japan, we brought the trophies on stage in Tokyo to show our gratitude and took some pictures – a very emotional experience to be so appreciated by the readers of the worlds heaviest heavy metal magazine – BURRN!"

Michael Amott: "After the Japanese tour we flew to Taipei, Taiwan and played a concert – our first time in Taiwan and we found out that it has a healthy metal scene! We had a great time and our promoter Mr. Space was a very generous host and it was a nice experience. A few of us In the ARCH ENEMY camp went up the 101 tower – currently the tallest building in the world...it was almost like walking on the clouds up there! The Taipei show was intense and fun"

Angela Gossow: "The Taipei crowd was insane! I believe we played our best show of the whole tour that night – a packed, sweaty place, people right in your face (I know barriers are important for security, but they def take away some of the feel and vibe..) and just this pure metal straight in your face delivery.. I wish all shows would feel this good! That night everybody went home with that huge, childish smile on their faces – band and fans alike"

Angela Gossow: "Many thanx to HJ, Max and Mark for taking such good care of us – beautiful hotel, very nice venue. A little funny story on the side: When Tom ( our tour manager) checked my little room he found the lights to be extremely… well, unfriendly… Looked kind of like in a morgue… Anyway, he asked a girl working there if it would be possible to find some more gentle light, so Mrs. Gossow wouldn’t be blind after her little warm up session in there (which is very cute Tom, btw. I usually warm up in the ladies room and I am already happy when I don’t have to look at toilet seats whilst doing my dodgy scales.) That girl obviously misunderstood him completely. After a few minutes promoter HJ approach Tom to tell him that painting the room in a different, warmer colour would be a bit difficult now at such short notice. A total Mariah Carey/Spinal Tap moment. We broke down and almost cried of laughter after that. And I happily did my warm up in the morgue... To ease the pain on my band mates ears. They usually have to endure 10 minutes of vocal torture prior to another 90 minutes of extreme Angela shouting"

"The Korean crowd was very passionate, singing along to the lyrics and melodies and forming some serious circle pits. The Korean rock and metal scene is rather small, but def loud and crazy! Thank you for inviting us – we hope to come back again sooner than later!"

ARCH ENEMY are excited to be making their much anticipated return to North America in May with what could well be hailed as one of the best guitar-shredder packages of the year. This headlining tour, dubbed “Tyranny and Bloodshred 2008” takes off on May 10th and as well as the headliners features the awesome yet diverse talents of Dark Tranquillity, Divine Heresy and Firewind. The sensational twin guitar attack of brothers Michael and Christopher Amott created the blueprint for modern day shredding and they continue to raise the bar with each release. The young Greek guitar god Gus G. adds to this dynamic with his flamboyant speed and precision. The renowned Dino Cazares whose lightning-fast speed picking and riffing made Fear Factory world beaters and last but by no means least the dark and sinister spells of Niklas Sundin and Martin Henriksson who have consistently led the melodic death metal field. This package is tailor made for those who crave supersonic shredding, sublime solos, technical precision and relentless riffing.

Michael Amott of ARCH ENEMY further comments on the upcoming tour:
“Everyone in the ARCH ENEMY camp is looking forward to returning to North American soil to play these headline dates! We had a blast on the co-headline stint last year with Machine Head and this is looking like it’s going to be another tour de force! Also it feels great to come back to the U.S and Canada with such a killer package – something with some substance and musical credibility. We’ll be digging deeper into the ‘Rise Of The Tyrant’ album and also playing a few things we’ve never performed for our U.S. fans before! A lot of exceptional talent on this bill for sure – I urge everyone to come early and check out all the bands - ‘cos otherwise you’ll be missing out big time! TYRANNY AND BLOODSHRED is here!”

Niklas Sundin of Dark Tranquillity states: “We're very pleased to let our growing hordes of U.S. fans know that we'll once again return to your shores to serve you in metal. Starting in the beginning of May, we'll head out as main support for our long-time buddies in ARCH ENEMY. It'll be a powerful and diverse package that will satisfy everyone.”

Dino Cazares of Divine Heresy states: “I'm excited that Divine Heresy will be in such good company on our fourth North American tour. Between Mike Amott and Dark Tranquillity, you have two architects of modern extreme metal -- and not to sound egotistical, but I like to think that I've helped to influence that sound as well. This will be our first domestic touring with European metal bands, and we know they'll deliver the goods and keep us on our toes, but we look forward to proving once again that this threat is real.”
Gus G. of Firewind states: “I'm so happy that Firewind gets to return to North America as a part of this package! It’s very versatile, with really good bands on the bill. Personally speaking, I'm happy for the fact that I'll get to tour with ARCH ENEMY again. It was a blast playing with them in 2005 and Michael Amott and Co. are such great musicians and people. I have a lot of respect for them. We will give the fans a really intense setlist as we present material from our new album, The Premonition, for the first time.”

This tour marks ARCH ENEMY’s second North American visit in support of their highly successful album, Rise Of The Tyrant. Since their last visit in October they have seen extensive touring action throughout Europe, Japan, SE Asia and Australia. The full ‘Tyranny And Bloodshred’ tour itinerary is as follows:

"Last weekend was truly an intense one, flying in to Cali from Sweden sucked of course – I hate flying (yeah, I know I could’ve taken the boat, ha-ha).
Anyway, I was not about to miss RANDALL’s release of the ‘NINJA V2 Michael Amott’ halfstack and the unveiling of the two new killer versions of my signature NINJA V’s from ESP guitars!"

"On the Friday, I did a big signing at the RANDALL booth together with George Lynch, Christian Olde Wolbers and Gus G. I had met all these guys before, so it was a relaxed and enjoyable affair. Some of you will remember that Gus G jammed with ARCH ENEMY on OZZFEST 2005 and he remains a close friend of mine".

"Over the weekend I met a ton of people - some old and some new! At NAMM it just seems like everyone I have ever met in my whole musical life is right there – it gets a little crazy!"

"I ran into Uli Jon Roth at the Washburn party, I’m always a bit awe struck by him…I mean, it’s Uli! But he’s so nice and cool – I really value his kindness and advice. Truly a class act".

"On the Saturday, I did the ESP Guitars signing session together with the crème de la crème of NWOAHM (I know they hate that term, he-he) guitar players: Jon Donais (Shadows Fall), Rob Arnold & Matt DeVries (Chimaira) and Will Adler (Lamb Of God). All super cool people – and Arch Enemy has toured with all these bands, so it was great seeing them all again".

"I hooked up with a few friends during the day – had lunch with one of my dearest (and funniest!) friends Shawn Drover (Megadeth) – was great to catch up with him".

"I went down in the NAMM basement to see Gary Holt (Thrash Guitar God - Exodus) jam in the HomeBrew Electronics booth – As it turns out, I missed it…but I got to hang out with Gary and the cool dudes from HomeBrew, their pedals sounded really good and they gave me goodie bag to go – sweet!"

"Saturday evening was the ESP dinner – very cool to get some time to talk to some of the ESP employees and ESP artists that I don’t meet often. I was delighted when Michael Wilton told me that he and the rest of Queensrÿche had enjoyed our recent cover of ‘Walk In The Shadows’!"

"Between the partying and schmoozing I squeezed in a meeting or two at NAMM and made some good progress with a couple of other ideas that have been around for a while, so expect some more big news on the ‘Michael Amott’ equipment side of things in the near future!"

"I’d like to thank my two main endorsers ESP Guitars and RANDALL amplifiers for bringing me over to NAMM again and supporting me so much over these last few years – I am very excited that we continue to develop and deepen our relationship. It is a beautiful thing for me to have friends in this business like Allen Steelgrave (ESP) and Jody Dankberg (RANDALL). Long may it continue and prosper!"

"My other endorsers that keep me running on the road and in the studio are also amazing and need to be mentioned: DIGITECH, ROCKTRON, SEYMOUR DUNCAN, D’ADDARIO, DUNLOP, GODLYKE… and a few more…all good stuff and all great people".

"Now I’m back home, we start rehearsals for the upcoming headline tour (starting in Japan on March 7th). We are itching to get back out there and deliver a full-on metal attack!"
